Health is wealth
80/20 rule for health
Being healthy is simple but not easy. Over time, I've started to land on a few core things that seem to be good and work for me. Understanding this helps me tune out a lot of diet / biohacking noise.
- Exercise
- Resistance/HIIT training a couple times a week
- Cardio a couple times a week
- Zone 2 cardio, which for a 30 year old is a heart rate of 112-131bpm, a couple times a week
- Diet - mostly just shop on the outside of the grocery store (produce/meat/dairy), drink a cup of coffee in the morning
- Do something contemplative each day, going for a walk works
- Sleep - 8-9 hours/night, important for physical recovery but also learning
- Sunlight and vitamin D, especially in winter. Sun maybe the most closely correlated item here to good mood, after exercise
- Spend time with friends
- Tracking/quantified self - waiting for apple watch to have optical glucose monitoring
- Things to not do
- Too much sugar, booze, or caffeine
- Too much social media consumption
